Dry eyes,
halfhearted smile,
no reply,
where do you stand?
are friendships meant to last?
or die
from dried hearts.
you never liked raisins.
I prefer grapes.
We both
left
each other
to dry–
wrinkled edges,
too sweet,
that stick to
my teeth, and
reek
of decay.
I eat the raisin
anyway,
finding pleasure
in the stickiness.
But you
never even
tried to
taste it.
Hey guys, here’s another poem from my poetry class! Since being in the class, I feel like I’ve been writing less poetry on my own. That, along with a busy Spring break has led to a decreased amount of posting. But hopefully, once I get my thoughts in order, I can share with you guys some writing about my past spring break trip at the beach. It was honestly the best vacation I’ve ever experienced. Because it felt so surreal and incredible, I’m having a hard time capturing its essence in words.
Also, I’m reading Claudia Rankine’s book Citizen, after attending one of her talks at my school. So I’m hoping to write about that at some point!
Hope you guys are all doing well. And as usual, write any thoughts in the comments section 🙂
So glad you had a fantastic getaway, looking forward to reading more!
