egg

This egg is hard to balance.

It takes one frown,

a misstep

to turn calm

into uproar,

happy into

please to not start crying.

101 songs to stop the tears.

 

cracked eggs have

limited lifespans

and must be salvaged immediately.

 

If I had a pan,

I would make an omelet

or scramble it

into 101 pieces

to eat with earphones on.

 

but it never cooks

perfectly.

Just one accident

and an omelet will go

wrong.

 

I make 101 mistakes

and eat the omelet anyway,

grimacing with every swallow

until it disappears

inside me.

 

If you were an

omelet,

I would devour you in

a heartbeat.
