Kill it Softly

Love too deep, too fast

A dagger that strikes before

You see his face, whole.

Can it be a crime

If no one saw the murder?

Wounds can heal quickly.

Ashes are gone, now

Even the fire has died,

Dark, crusted pieces.

Just a shadow hides

In the corner of a heart

No one remembers.

  1. Turns out I was right…you do have the soul of a poet…this offering is wonderful…thanks for sharing 🙂 By the way, it must be me, but I couldn’t find the other excerpts you directed me to….I will be back though 🙂

  2. I love how this poem raises the subtlest hint of a question to keep the reader going. “Can it be a crime
/If no one saw the murder?/Wounds can heal quickly.” This stanza, and the stanzas after, tie everything together so well!
