Heart it lingers

Just tell me and I will show you my heart,

how far we have come, how long till we fall apart.

Don’t let the stone face sarcasm fool you.

Inside and out, my body burning, fumbling, fuming,

your smell lingering on my knuckles,

my brain on fire like vivid livid volcanic eruption,

all it takes is one touch,

darling, please catch me

before I turn to dust.

  1. The first line of your poem brings to mind a sense of hope — waiting for an invitation to share oneself with another. I’ve felt this way many times; hopeful anticipation ?
